Automatic Lubrication Systems improve asset reliability when run effectively and reduce the need for personnel to carry out manual lubrication routines. Automated Systems simplify the task of re-lubrication with a typical set up comprising of a programable pump with lubricant reservoir and metered volume distribution valves connected via installed pipework and or tubing. There is a common tendency with manual re-lubrication routines, to over lubricate because metering is more difficult with hand tools leading to higher consumption and waste. Regular re-lubrication may be missed, particularly where access is difficult, or is located in more challenging / hazardous places e.g. confined spaces or when working at height is required. Manual lubrication can lead to the introduction of contaminants via lubrication points and or result in the use of the wrong lubricant.
Under or incorrect lubrication tends to occur in these situations resulting in premature wear, leading to poorer equipment reliability and breakdown.
